Candidate Statement by Nancy Matarrita

NOW is the time for a NEW Nancy on the Pomona School Board

Vote for the newest Nancy because

... your children deserve a person of integrity who believes in their value and potential and who will keep their best interests in focus

... like you, I live, work, shop, play, worship, serve and learn right here in Pomona

... our new superintendent and management need visionary leadership, not business as usual

... you and I want the best facilities and motivational enrichment programs for all our pupils

... teachers and parents expect leaders that respect and listen to them like I will

... I understand technology, Spanish, teaching methods, finance, policy-making, good parenting, administration, and children

... declining enrollment is an opportunity to use excess facilities to enhance and upgrade our downtrodden facilities, to focus on the students- not the numbers, to re-evaluate the strengths of our teachers and use them where they can make the best impact.

... safety is of the utmost importance on and off campus and responses to violence need to be re-evaluated and rehearsed at all levels school-wide. Directly after school and after incidents in particular need more attention.

... parents want information and guidance from our schools and they deserve accountability of the school board and superintendent. Power to the parents - you know your own kids best.

... fresh ideas and new leadership are needed to revitalize and re-energize the board on a regular basis.
